Tyrese Haliburton, Caitlin Clark strengthen friendship during injury recovery

WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton hosted his youth basketball camp on Saturday.

He was walking on the court with a boot on his right foot as he recovers from a torn Achilles, an injury he suffered in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Haliburton isn’t the only point guard in Indiana recovering from an injury. Fever star Caitlin Clark has been out since mid July with a right groin injury.

Haliburton and Clark were already friends, but that friendship has strengthened as the two stars recover from their injuries.

“It’s been important just to have somebody to lean on and talk to,” Haliburton said about Clark. “I think that we’ve grown the relationship that we can talk about more than just basketball.”

“It sucks that she’s been hurt for as long as she has, but just for us to be able to communicate, even in her recovery,” Haliburton said. “We lift at the same time. It’s just us two in the weight room. We spend a lot of time together. I guess it’s a good thing, but I wish that she was playing.”

Haliburton and Clark have both supported each other on the court too, with Haliburton attending multiple Fever games this season and Clark cheering on the Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse during their run to the NBA Finals.

Haliburton has been ruled out by the Pacers for the entire 2025-26 season as he recovers from his injury. He said on Saturday that he has no timeline for his return. He is just focused on getting back to 100%.

Clark also does not have a timetable for her return from injury. She has missed the Fever’s last 14 games. Fever head coach Stephanie White said earlier this week that the hope is for Clark to return before the end of the regular season.
