8-21-25 Sundae’s Homeade Ice Cream
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A locally owned ice cream shop is receiving big recognition.
Sundae’s Homemade Ice Cream in Indianapolis has been voted America’s Best Ice Cream.
The recognition comes from a fan-powered bracket hosted by The64.
The competition included 64 ice cream shops from across the country.
Meira Buckner and her family own Sundae’s.
“We were just honored to be entered and happy that a customer nominated us,” Buckner said. “We never thought we would win the entire thing, but we are thrilled and honored.”
Buckner says they don’t know which customer nominated them, but they are so grateful.
She says they always strive to have a variety of flavors for everyone to enjoy.
“We always carry 34 flavors every day,” Buckner said. “When you come in you’re welcome to sample things. We also have about four or five new flavors that always rotate.”
Buckner says they also do seasonal flavors as well.
“We have the classics but it’s always fun to have something that nobody else has thought of,” Buckner said.
Sundae’s offers unique items like the Graham S’mores, Reese’s Mountain, and Caramel Cinnamon Toast.
“The Caramel Cinnamon Toast is filled with layers of caramel, vanilla ice cream and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal,” Buckner said. “We also have the Lemoreo flavor of ice cream, which combines lemon and Oreo.”
Buckner says the Lemoreo flavor is one of their top sellers.
“I always tell people you have to try that one,” Buckner said.
Not only does Sundae’s provide homemade ice cream, they also roast their own coffee.
“It’s just been really special to see the community embrace us,” Buckner said.
Sundae’s will be celebrating 30 years in business in December.
“It’s so special to us because my husband David and his brother Steve founded it,” Buckner said. “It’s just been really special to see the community embrace us.”
