The Zone will have highlights from these 22 games in Week 1

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — High school football is finally back.

WISH-TV will have highlights from the following 22 games on Friday in Week 1 on The Zone.

Center Grove at Warren Central

These two schools have combined for six of the 12 6A state championships. It’ll be a heavyweight fight between two teams looking to get back to the top of the mountain. It’s also a rematch of the regional championship last year, which Center Grove won, 23-15.

Ben Davis at Cathedral (at Butler)

Ben Davis was just 5-6 in 2024 after winning the state championship in 2023. One of those losses came to Cathedral in Week 1 last year. The Fighting Irish were 6-4 in 2024.

Carmel at Fishers

Carmel has not had a winning season since 2022. They’ll look to start off on the right foot against Fishers, who was 7-5 in 2024 and won a sectional championship. The two teams have not played since 2016.

Spalding (MD) at Brownsburg

Brownsburg’s quest to repeat as 6A state champions starts against an out of state opponent.

Lawrence Central at Lawrence North

Lawrence North has won four straight games in the rivalry. The Wildcats are also coming off an 11-1 season where they won their second sectional championship since 1990.

Fort Wayne Carroll at Hamilton Southeastern

HSE has opened the season against Fort Wayne Carroll the past two seasons and have gone 2-0 in those matchups, winning 45-21 in 2024. The Royals were 7-4 in 2024 and lost to Fishers in the sectional championship.

Fort Wayne Homestead at Westfield

Westfield was 12-2 in 2024 and lost to Brownsburg in the 6A state championship game. This is the first matchup between the two teams since 2020, which Westfield won 42-9 in the regional championship.

Decatur Central at Avon

Decatur Central is coming off a 5A state championship, and are now playing in 6A this season. Avon went 3-7 in 2024, but one of those wins was against defending state champions Ben Davis.

Pike at Zionsville

Zionsville and Pike have played in Week 1 every year since 2016. Pike won last year, 31-20. Zionsville was 4-7 in 2024 and Pike was 5-5.

Noblesville at Mount Vernon

Noblesville and Mount Vernon have played in Week 1 each season since 2020. Noblesville has won the last four matchups.

Brebeuf Jesuit at North Central

Brebeuf went 8-3 in 2024, losing to Roncalli in the sectional semifinal. North Central is looking for their first victory since 2021.

Crispus Attucks at Lutheran

Lutheran’s streak of three straight state championships was snapped last season, as the Saints lost to Linton in the semi-state round in their first year in 2A. Crispus Attucks went 6-2 in 2024.

Lafayette Jefferson at Bishop Chatard

Chatard’s quest for three straight state championships was ended in the regional championship last year. They went 9-3 in 2024. Lafayette Jefferson was undefeated until the regional championship in 2024, where they lost to Warsaw.

Southport at Franklin

Both teams had losing seasons in 2024. Franklin was 4-7 and Southport was 0-10.

Franklin Central at Perry Meridian

The two teams have matched up in Week 1 every year since 2020. Franklin Central has won each game.

Fort Wayne Dwenger at Roncalli

Roncalli was 6-5 in 2024, losing in the sectional championship to Bishop Chatard. The two teams last played in the 2002 state championship, which Roncalli won 24-21.

Speedway at Heritage Christian

Speedway went 4-6 in 2024 and Heritage Christian went 7-3. The two teams last played in 2015, with Heritage Christian winning.

Park Tudor at Covenant Christian (at Zionsville West Middle School)

Park Tudor went 6-4 in 2024 and lost in the first round of the sectional. Covenant Christian was 0-10, but beat Park Tudor in their last matchup in 2022.

Shortridge at Purdue Poly Englewood (at Howe High School)

Shortridge won the matchup between the two teams in 2024, winning 26-8.

Bedford North Lawrence at Martinsville

The two teams have played in Week 1 in each season since 2018, with Martinsville winning each matchup. Martinsville started the season 8-0 in 2024 and made it to the semi-state round.

Sheridan at Greenwood Christian

Sheridan went 7-6 in 2024 and won a sectional championship. Greenwood Christian was 7-3.

Monrovia at Cascade

Monrovia was 9-3 in 2024 and lost in the sectional championship to Lutheran.
