Cooler temperatures and dry pattern expected in central Indiana | Aug. 20, 2025

Marcus’ 4 a.m. Wednesday forecast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Cooler temperatures will arrive in waves over the next 7 to 10 days.

Today:

Tuesday’s cold front has pushed south of the area, taking the rain with it. We are left with mostly cloudy skies. Warm temperatures and high humidity still linger but should improve throughout the day.

Highs will reach the upper 70s to lower 80s later this afternoon.

Tonight:

Clouds will gradually clear overnight, and humidity will slowly drop. Overnight lows will fall to comfortable levels in the low to mid-60s by Thursday morning.

Late week:

A large high-pressure ridge will settle in, establishing a dry pattern over the next several days. This will keep us rain-free with very dry air and low humidity.

High temperatures on Thursday will reach the lower 80s, and highs will return to the mid-80s on Friday and Saturday.

A taste of Fall coming:

Another cold front will move through Saturday night. It should be mostly dry, but we can’t rule out a very spotty shower or two late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

The bigger story will be a significant shot of cooler temperatures, giving us an early taste of autumn air. Highs on Sunday will only reach the upper 70s, with overnight lows dropping to the 40s in some outlying areas by Monday morning. The long-range pattern suggests temperatures will remain below average for much of next week into the start of Labor Day weekend.
