State Sen. Jim Buck announces re-election bid in 2026

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — State Senator Jim Buck (R-Kokomo) intends to run for another term representing Senate District 21, which includes Tipton County and parts of Hamilton and Howard counties.

Buck, who has been involved in legislation to reform property taxes, education, and healthcare, says he would like to keep working on these initiatives at the state level.

“I have always believed in limited government and fiscal responsibility and I’m proud of my record on those issues. Hoosiers deserve government that works responsibly within its means, and I will continue to focus on making sure our state works for all her citizens,” Buck said in a release.

Buck says he’s most proud of his efforts to overhaul the annexation process to make it easier for Hoosiers, and his work to “reform local government and pass honestly balanced state budgets.”

He currently chairs the Senate Committee on Local Government and serves on several other committees, including Environmental Affairs, Homeland Security & Transportation, and Veterans Affairs & the Military.

Buck was elected to the Indiana State Senate in 2008 after serving 14 years in the Indiana House of Representatives.
