Indiana Historical Society’s Living Legends Gala celebrates community leaders

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana Historical Society hosts one of its most important annual fundraisers tonight, honoring four community leaders as ‘Living Legends’.

Michael Browning, Greg Gibson, Cathy Langham, and Myra Selby are the 26th class of inductees, all chosen for significant contributions and achievements. The list of state greats includes innovators, philanthropists, newsmakers, sports stars, faith leaders, and more.

This year’s group is full of versatility. Each of the honorees has built a legacy of remarkable success in a chosen professional field while also making a lasting impact on the places in Indiana they call home.

Browning, for example, is both the Chairman of Duke Energy-Indiana and Chairman of Visit Indy.

Selby is a true pioneer in law in Indiana. She was the first woman and the first African American to serve as an associate justice on the Indiana Supreme Court. Outside the courtroom, she also served as the director of health care policy for the state.

Gibson has spent decades as a Terre Haute business leader, but his most lasting impacts may well be as a philanthropist.

Langham is one of America’s foremost innovators in the business logistics, but she also guides several important local institutions through board membership.

The Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center in downtown Indianapolis will host the Living Legends Gala.

News 8 Daybreak Anchor Scott Sander will serve as the night’s emcee; he’s now in his second decade of serving as master of ceremonies for the program.
