INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The next streak of sweltering heat and humidity with several 90s kickstarts Friday and leads to a scorching weekend. We may also have to track some storms for portions of the state this weekend.
Next week looks to make a larger attempt at transitioning away from the heat.
Thursday night: Mostly clear and mild tonight with lows in the upper 60s.
Friday: Friday swings back to a more tropical-like feel with 90 degree heat and upper 60s to low 70s dew points. Be sure to pace yourself if you’ll be out and about.
Hot weekend ahead: Hottest air of 2025 possible this weekend. Low-mid 90s highs expected on Saturday and Sunday with peak heat indices 95-100+. Stay cool if your planning on being outdoors or heading to the final weekend of the Indiana State Fair.
We’re also watching potential for shower/storm complexes into mainly northern IN this weekend. This is a trend that’s becoming more noticeable on some models. For now, we think much of central Indiana is relatively dry, but this could change.
7-Day Forecast: Monday and Tuesday are to be equally as awful as this weekend. Cooler air then eventually returns at some point mid to late next week. The pace/magnitude of this is uncertain, but it looks clear we’ll back away from the 90s next week. This will also include an increase in shower and storms chances Tuesday and Wednesday especially.
