What Bryson DeChambeau can’t wait to see at Chatham Hills

WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — Some of the best golfers in the world are in Central Indiana this week for LIV Golf Indianapolis.

The three-day tournament takes place at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Ind. It’s the first time LIV Golf has played a tournament in Indiana.

“The economic driver that we have this week is massive for this area, and we hope to continue to show that to new unique markets,” two-time U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau said.

DeChambeau, who plays on Crushers GC in LIV Golf, hit the course on Wednesday for a practice round.

“There’s plenty of markets out there that would like to have LIV Golf because of the economic impact as well as numerous other things, but Indianapolis having an event here showcasing these great stars, this great talent, at an awesome venue, is what’s needed for the game of golf and for LIV personally in my opinion,” DeChambeau said.

DeChambeau is not the only big name in the Hoosier State this week. Another two-time major winner, Jon Rahm, will be competing at LIV Golf Indianapolis.

“My first time to Indianapolis, so, so far it’s been a great experience, really good week, really good few days,” Rahm said. “Was able to enjoy St. Elmo’s steakhouse yesterday, got to see downtown a little bit. The only thing left to do is for me to play good golf.”

Rahm, who won The Masters in 2023 and won the U.S. Open in 2021, is locked in a battle with Joaquin Niemann to win the 2025 LIV Golf individual championship. Entering this week, Niemann has 208.43 points, while Rahm has 196.16 points.

Rahm is the defending LIV Golf individual champion, having captured the title for the 2024 season.

“I would say this year, short of a crazy win coming which is not forecasted, I would expect the scores to be low, but I do know the fans like that, so it’s going to be a week where you’re going to see a lot of birdies happen, a lot of eagles,” Rahm said.

The individual title is on the line this week with LIV Golf Indianapolis being the individual championship finale.

“I can’t wait to see the crowds out here this week, see what they’re all about, and honestly hope to give them everything they wanted and more,” DeChambeau said. “I think LIV is definitely one of their best strategies to continue to go to these markets that are a little smaller and give them an opportunity to see what us top players in the world look like.”

The golfers will take part in a pro-am on Thursday at The Club at Chatham Hills. The three-day LIV Golf Indianapolis tournament will then begin on Friday and conclude on Sunday.
