Indy Parks unveils improvements at Washington Park
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis leaders made a big splash at Washington Park Wednesday.
Indy Parks and Recreation cut the ribbon on a brand-new $3.5 million makeover at Washington Park. It now features a reimagined playground, splash pad, a new shelter, added parking, a comfort station, and a lush new event space.
“At it’s core, this project is about connecting history to the present,” said Brittany Crone, director of Indy Parks and Recreation. “Connecting neighbors to one another and connecting the next generation of Martindale-Brightwood youth, oxford youth to opportunities for growth.”
Indy parks said the new improvements are funded through an $80 million Lilly Endowment grant.
