INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indy fell just short of a 25th 90 degree day this year in tandem with dealing with grossly humid air.
The next stretch of yucky heat and humidity is right around the corner heading into this weekend.
Wednesday night: Spotty showers and storms are possible into the early nighttime hours. Local flooding and lightning will be the main hazards. Lows are to also be a little cooler with numbers in the mid to upper 60s.
Thursday: We’re tracking a little bit of a less humid Thursday, but it will remain on the warmer side temperature wise. Highs look to top out in the mid to upper 80s.
Friday: The end of the workweek features a quick transition back to miserable air. Highs will rise into the 90s for at least some areas with peak heat indices pushing into the mid 90s to possibly triple digits. There is a very, very low shot for a stray shower or storm, but expect a dry and miserably hot/humid Friday.
7-Day Forecast: Sweltering heat and humidity is expected into this weekend. Highs are set to top out in the low to mid 90s with peak heat indices 95-100+ Saturday and Sunday. Sunday is the day we think will be the hottest in this extended forecast.
Next week will start hot and muggy before we attempt to bring another cooldown into our area. Timing out this next shot of relief after next Tuesday is difficult and carries a lot of uncertainty at this time. We have to watch a few things involving the upcoming hot dome’s evolution and track of Erin out in the Atlantic.
Erin could push back timing on the next cooldown. At the earliest, we could break away from the heat/humidity next Wednesday. Regardless, rain and storm chances will increase as we close in on the transition away from the heat. We’ll refine timing/details as we get closer.
