INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — State officials have shut down the Lafayette Road bridge over I-465 on the northwest side of Indianapolis after issues were found with some of the steel beams.
“During a recent damage inspection, issues with the steel beams on the north side of the bridge were discovered,” the Indiana Department of Transportation said in an alert message Tuesday morning.
INDOT did not identify any specific problems with the bridge, but said crews are working “diligently” to investigate and then correct the issues.
A timeline for the reopening of the bridge has not been established.
Drivers will need to find an alternate route while repairs are made.
