18-year-old faces attempted murder charges in Jennings County stabbings

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ind. (WISH) — An 18-year-old woman has been arrested and preliminarily faces two counts of attempted murder following stabbings on Sunday in northwestern Jennings County, the Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.

The post said Adrianna Harris is accused of two counts of attempted murder. Online court records do not show charges for Harris, although Jennings Circuit Court agreed to hold her in jail for 72 hours on no bond as the investigation continued.

The post said the stabbings happened in Geneva Township, but did not provide a specific location. Online court records, though, show Harris is a resident of the 9200 block of West County Road 950 North, located in rural Elizabethtown about a mile west of State Road 7.

Deputies responded to a report of “multiple people stabbed” at a home in Geneva Township just after 6 p.m. Sunday, the post said. Deputies arrived to find several victims suffering from serious injuries, and Harris was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies rendered lifesaving aid, including applying tourniquets to three people stabbed before emergency medical services arrived. Two people stabbed were flown to trauma centers for advanced care.

No information was provided in the post on the relationship of Harris to the people found stabbed, or what may have led to the stabbings.

Jennings County, with 27,600 residents, is about a 75-minute drive southeast of downtown Indianapolis.
