INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are investigating the death of an infant who was found in a pool on the southwest side of Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reports that around 10:23 a.m. a family member found the infant in a pool. Officers were then called to the 2100 block of Barrett Avenue, near Eagle Creek and Kentucky Avenue, but the family member started driving the infant to the hospital.
Police say that before they could get to the hospital, the family member found an ambulance working in the area of Oliver and Belmont avenues. EMS medics then rushed the infant, who was in critical condition, to the hospital.
“Unfortunately, the infant was later pronounced deceased at the hospital,” IMPD said.
Multiple IMPD teams, including the homicide unit, and the Department of Child Services began investigating the “various scenes.”
