Caitlin Clark to miss 8th straight game with groin injury

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been ruled out for Tuesday’s late night game against the Los Angeles Sparks.

This will be the eighth straight game Clark has missed due to a right groin injury. There’s still no official timeline on when Clark might return.

Head coach Stephanie White was asked about her All-Star’s status before Sunday’s game against the Seattle Storm. White said Clark’s rehab and recovery are “going well” but that they’re being very careful with pushing her return.

“It’s just I think for us staying the course and making sure that we’re really diligent about each step that we take and that we don’t have set backs and that we’re patient with it,” White said. “I know she wants to be out here on the floor. We want her out here on the floor. But making sure that she’s ready is the most important thing,” White said. “I still don’t know how far we are. We’re going to take it one step at a time, one day at a time, and go from there. “

Tuesday will be the 17th regular season game that Clark has missed this season, as she’s dealt with three different lower body injuries. Earlier in the season, Clark sustained left quad and left groin injuries. That time sidelined caused her to miss the Fever’s win in the Commissioner’s Cup championship game, as well as the All-Star Game and Three-Point Contest during All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis.

Clark has averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game in 13 games played this season.

The Fever are 8-5 with Clark this season and 9-7 without Clark in regular season games. The Fever are in the middle of a five-game win streak — the longest of the season — most recently beating the Storm by four even with Clark unavailable.

The Fever tips off against the Sparks on the road at 10 p.m. Eastern Tuesday.
