INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Christmas tree growers have just under four months to help the Christmas Gift + Hobby Show find Indiana’s next iconic Christmas tree.
Online entries are being accepted through Aug. 10 for the show that runs Nov. 12-16 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Promoters of the show said in a news release that the campaign, part of a Christmas in July initiative, invites people to submit a tree from their property to be the centerpiece of the show, offering $500 cash, 20 free tickets, free parking, and professional tree removal as rewards.
The tree must be at least 30 feet tall and in good health to qualify for submission.
The selected tree will serve as a backdrop for selfies and visitors’ holiday memories.
“It may be July, but the spirit of Christmas is already in the air!” said a letter to the media from Cody Mattox, public relations specialist at Coles Marketing in Carmel.
