ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — A missing Anderson man was found dead near a retention pond Friday, now police are opening a death investigation.
Jeremy Smith, 37, was reported missing to Anderson Police on July 1. At the time, police sent out a silver alert and searched in and around Smith’s home.
July 11, several people submitted tips to Anderson Police saying that there was a possible sighting of Smith in the 2700 block of West 38th Street.
Drones searched the area and found Smith deceased in the area he was reported to be in, near a retention pond.
Smith’s cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Madison County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is still ongoing.
