INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has announced plans to close a license branch in southeastern Indiana.
The Versailles branch, 833 S. Adams St., will close for good on Thursday, Aug. 28, and consolidate operations with the nearby Batesville branch.
“This was not an easy decision, and we sincerely appreciate the feedback we received from Versailles and other Ripley County residents,” BMV Commissioner Kevin Garvey said in a release. “We know change isn’t easy, but we hope expanding the number of days the Batesville branch is open is open from three to five…makes things a bit easier.”
Garvey encouraged residents to use other nearby BMV locations, myBMV, and kiosk services.
The Batesville branch, located at 1132 Tekulve Rd., Suite 3, will begin operating Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. after Labor Day.
Versailles, the county seat of Ripley County, is roughly 85 miles southeast of Indianapolis.
