INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana Pacers group for the NBA Cup was revealed on Wednesday.
The Pacers will be in East Group A, along with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, and Washington Wizards.
Each conference has three groups of five teams. Each team will play one game against the other four teams in their group.
After Group Play, the three group winners and one wild card team will advance to the Knockout Rounds.
After the quarterfinal round, which is played at NBA home arenas, the semifinals and championship will be in Las Vegas.
The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, December 13. The NBA Cup Championship is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16.
All NBA Cup games except for the championship count towards teams’ regular season records.
In the first year of the event, the Pacers made it to the championship, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers. Last year, the Pacers went winless in the event, going 0-4 in group play.
The Pacers eliminated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs in the Eastern Conference Semifinals last season, beating the No. 1 seed in the East in five games en route to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000.
The Pacers and Cavaliers were the only two teams in their group to have made the playoffs last season.
