BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — A homeless man was scheduled to be formally charged with attempted murder Wednesday in a Monroe County court, online court records showed.
Jerry L. Jackson, 36, is accused of shooting two people about 2:10 a.m. June 18 in the 4600 block of South College Drive. That’s just south of the southern border of the city of Bloomington in the Patton Heights residential subdivision, located off South Old State Road 37 just southwest of its intersection with West Gordon Pike.
A 35-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were found conscious but suffering from gunshot wounds. They were treated at a hospital and released, expected to recover from their wounds, Bloomington Police Department said in a news release.
Jackson was arrested Wednesday after an arrest warrant for him had been issued June 20. He was scheduled to be formally charged in Monroe Circuit Court 5 with a high-level felony count of attempted murder, and two mid-level felony counts of aggravated battery, the court records show.
News releases from Bloomington police did not disclose a motive for the shooting, but said it was a targeted incident.
Bloomington is a city of nearly 80,000 residents about a 70-minute drive southwest of downtown Indianapolis.
