INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Marion County Prosecutors office says three juveniles and one adult have been charged for their involvement in the weekend mass shooting that killed two minors.
Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears says a 13-year-old, 15-year-old, and 16-year-old — all male — have been charged.
All three juveniles are charged for dangerous possession of a firearm. However, the 13-year-old is charged for stealing a gun and minor drug possession and the 15-year-old is also charged for drugs and resisting officers.
“A 13-year-old alleged to be walking through the streets of downtown with a gun is ridiculous,” Mears said in a press release. “We will continue to work with IMPD and our law enforcement partners to investigate how these firearms end up in the hands of our children.”
Vincent Lanking, 17, is charged as an adult with dangerous possession of a firearm and running from the police after they tried to arrest him on Monument Circle.
In the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office press release, they say these are only the first four cases brought forward. They expect additional charges to be filed “in the coming days and police and prosecutors continue to investigate and pursue criminal charges.”
This is a developing story.
