FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — Five teachers from Hamilton South Eastern schools were gifted over $95,000 in grants from the City of Fisher’s Educator Innovation Grant program.
Since 2024, the Educator Innovation Grant program has provided nearly $350,000 to support innovative educational projects across 12 schools. The grants are designed to empower educators with the financial resources necessary to inspire students and rethink learning approaches.
Jamie Follis from Hamilton Southeastern High School received $16,200 to expand the Olio Road Productions film program, allowing students to produce short films throughout the school year. These films will include fictional, promotional, and documentary-style shorts, with the possibility of public viewing opportunities with the City of Fishers.
Jeffrey Brunnemer at Fall Creek Junior High was awarded $3,600 to purchase Time Kettle translator earbuds for students in the ENL program. These earbuds offer real-time translation, enabling students to become more self-sufficient.
John McCallister at Hamilton Southeastern High School received $39,100 to start a welding simulation. This technology will allow students to earn up to two welding certificates, preparing them for careers in the trades despite limited space for traditional welding practice.
Jenifer Young at Hamilton Southeastern High School was granted $15,100 for resources that better connect ESL students with their classes, addressing language and cultural gaps to empower them in learning English and acclimating to school in the U.S.
Will Hurst at Cumberland Road Elementary got $22,980 to develop the school’s “Village of Cumberland,” which includes a “Biz Town” experience for students, directly connecting with the 3rd grade experience in HSE’s Journey of a Student.
