FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WISH) — A 7-year-old child was shot inside a home in Fort Wayne early Tuesday morning, according to police.
Fort Wayne Police Department said the shooting happened at 2:49 a.m. Tuesday in the 4000 block of Oliver Street. That’s in a residential area a few blocks east of U.S. 27/Lafayette Street.
Shots were fired from outside the home. The child sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and was last reported to be stable at a hospital. A news release from police did not give the child’s gender.
The Fort Wayne Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the shooting and is actively seeking any information that could lead to the arrest of a suspect or suspects. Greater Fort Wayne Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that assists in the apprehension of the people responsible for the shooting.
