1 dead, 1 injured after crash in Newton County
BROOK, Ind. (WISH) — Two men were involved in a fatal two-vehicle crash in Newton County Friday evening.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office says 911 calls came in just before 8 p.m. July 4. The crash was reported at the intersection of State Road 55 and County Road 1000 South.
At the scene, deputies say a Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by a 65-year-old man from Goodland, Indiana, was driving east on County Road 1000 South. As the truck neared the intersection, the driver failed to yield to a northbound Dodge passenger vehicle and crashed into the 20-year-old driver.
The Chevrolet driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been identified pending family notification.
The Dodge driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. After being released from the hospital, the 20-year-old was arrested for driving without a license.
