INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced they have arrested the fourth suspect involved in a police shooting July 29.
Tuesday, IMPD said they arrested the fourth and final suspect involved in the shooting. 20-year-old Mandrell Ballard was arrested for fleeing the scene and for a felony battery charge in a previous case.
In the update, IMPD said that Tyson Reach, the 19-year-old shooter who wounded an IMPD officer, is still in the hospital in critical condition. Reach has been preliminarily charged with attempted murder.
Two other suspects were were in the vehicle during the incident, including 19-year-old Mahki Starks.
The police shooting happened after an IMPD officer recognized a car from a police shooting. That officer conducted a traffic stop at an apartment complex near 16th and White River Parkway.
When the officer pulled the driver out of the car to arrest him, two passengers got out. One walked in front of the vehicle and shot the officer three times.
IMPD said the officer is out of the hospital and recovering at home.
Three of the suspects were arrested at the time of the shooting, but police said Ballard ran during the shooting.
