KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. (WISH) — Investigators are trying to determine what led to a rollover crash involving a school bus and three other vehicles east of Indianapolis on Monday afternoon.
The Knightstown Fire Department says four people were injured in the accident at 4:52 p.m. in a construction zone on I-70 eastbound near the Knightstown and New Castle exits.
Firefighters say no children were on the bus at the time. Three of the injured people were taken to an area hospital, and one person was transported to a hospital in Indianapolis. The fire department did not release the conditions of the people who were hurt.
“This was a significant incident that required the combined efforts of multiple local and state agencies,” Lt. Kaleb Buchanan, public information officer for Knightstown Fire Department, said in an email. “We appreciate the cooperation of the public as crews work to ensure safety and reopen the roadway.”
