3 charged for Indianapolis overdose deaths involving fentanyl

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against three people in two separate overdose deaths. In both cases, fentanyl is believed to have caused the deaths.

Tiffany Cole and Zachary Daniels, both 31, are charged with one count each of dealing drugs resulting in death.

They are accused in connection with the death of Casey Gentry, 31, of Indianapolis.

On Feb 22, around 11:26 p.m., officers were called to Gentry’s house for an overdose call. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to court documents, her grandmother told officers that she had recently started using heroin again.

Investigators determined that Daniels coordinated with Cole to deliver drugs to Gentry, including fentanyl, court papers say.

Cole is scheduled for pre-trial conference on Oct. 12. Records for Daniels’s next court appearance were not available online.

In a separate case, 26-year-old Carolyn Laucher was also charged with dealing drugs resulting in death.

She is accused in connection with the death of Tanner Ballard, 25, of Indianapolis.

Medics were called to Ballard’s apartment around 3:10 a.m. on April 12 for a reported overdose.

Police found cocaine at the scene, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by News 8.

Investigators later determined the cocaine was laced with fentanyl.

Ballard was pronounced dead at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital.

Through cell phone records, police concluded that Laucher sold Ballard the drugs that led to his death.

Laucher is due in court for a pre-trial conference on Oct. 29.
