MECHANICSBURG, Ind. (WISH) — At least two people died Friday morning in a three-car crash in rural Boone County.
Det. Morganne Carpenter with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident to News 8.
A tweet from the sheriff’s office indicates the crash happened sometime after 10 a.m. on IN 39 and Blubaugh Avenue in Mechanicsburg, just north of Lebanon.
It was not clear what led up to the crash, but police say it involved a concrete truck, an SUV, and a van.
The two people who died at the scene have not been identified. No other injuries were immediately reported.
INDOT says IN 39 at that intersection is closed in both directions and has not said when it would reopen.
News 8 has a crew heading to the scene. This is a breaking story and will be updated with further information once available.
