VINCENNES, Ind. (WISH) — A 32-year-old faces a murder charge after a standoff with police on Tuesday afternoon, Vincennes Police Department said in a social media post.
Police were called to a shooting just after 12:55 p.m. Tuesday at the Cardinal Liquor Store, 2101 N. Sixth St., in the downtown area.
Police arrived to find a woman with gunshot wounds. The post did not provide any additional information on the woman.
Dylan A. Smith fled the scene in a black SUV, which was later found crashed nearby, the post said.
Officers traced Smith to a home in the 800 block of Carbon Street, a couple of blocks from the liquor store, where a standoff ensued.
A tenant told police that Smith was inside the home and armed with a knife.
The post said police used “less lethal devices” to safely apprehend Smith after several hours.
Smith was in the Knox County jail on Tuesday night. No information about an initial court hearing was immediately available.
