INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Ed Carpenter crashed in Turn 1 in lap 27 of the Indy 500.
“I feel fine, just a chaotic restart,” Carpenter said. “I was kind of in the middle of a gaggle of cars, followed Armstrong into (Turn) 1 on the outside. Takuma tried to make it three-wide into (Turn) 1 on the restart which is unwise. Not only do you do that, he speeds me down like I was not going to be there. Really disappointing so early in the race for two veterans like that, a two-time champion, I would expect way more out of him. Needless to say, I’m pretty disappointed that that happened.”
