WABASH, Ind. (WISH) — Indiana State Police (ISP) troopers on Thursday arrested a 45-year-old man from Wabash, Indiana, after a pursuit in Wabash County.
Just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, an ISP trooper was patrolling in the area of County Road 200 East and County Road 1000 South in LaFontaine, Indiana, to assist with locating David R. Odham, 45, of Wabash, who had active warrants out of Cass County and Wabash County.
The trooper found a 1996 Ford Ranger and identified the driver as Odham. The trooper activated his emergency lights and attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver ignored the emergency lights, and a pursuit ensued, traveling northbound on County Road 100 East near County Road 900 South.
The pursuit lasted several miles, with the Ford disregarding multiple stop signs. The pursuit continued off the roadway into a field near County Road 600 East and State Road 124. The trooper used a precision immobilization technique (PIT maneuver) with his police vehicle, causing the Ford to come to a stop.
Odham exited the Ford and fled the scene on foot, but he was apprehended without incident shortly afterward. A search of the Ford revealed suspected marijuana.
Odham was taken to the Wabash County Jail and preliminarily charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, criminal mischief, aggressive driving, possession of marijuana, reckless driving, and active warrants out of Cass County and Wabash County.
